Walmart plans to open one of its smaller Neighborhood Market stores at Gateway Mall in Springfield.
The stand-alone store is one of Walmart’s smaller format stores; at 39,000 square feet it will be about one-fifth the size of a Walmart Supercenter, Walmart spokeswoman Rachel Wall said.
The Neighborhood Market stores primarily focus on groceries.
The new Springfield store will carry Oregon produce and foods, as well as wine, a self-service deli and a self-serve bakery, Walmart said.
