Portland terminal operator says longshoremen attempting to monopolize

Portland's container terminal operator accused the longshore union and its employers of conspiring to monopolize West Coast cargo handling.

A lawyer for ICTSI Oregon Inc. alleged a conspiracy to monopolize the loading and unloading of freight fuels the bitter dispute over work at the Port of Portland and job grabs at other West Coast ports.

Tom Triplett, a Portland antitrust attorney representing ICTSI, said the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association are expropriating jobs along the coast from Longview, Wash., to San Diego.
