Conservation Services Group is laying off 40 workers from its Portland office after losing a bid with Energy Trust of Oregon.
Conservation Services Group Inc. has managed Energy Trust's existing home programs since 2007, but lost a bid to maintain those operations next year. The move prompted the cutbacks, said Stephen Cowell, chief executive of the Westborough, Mass.-based nonprofit.
Nearly 100 people work in CSG's downtown Portland office in a building that's also home to Energy Trust. Cowell said he expects to lay off about 40 workers when the home program contract expires at the end of the year.
