Workers compensation costs increase

The average Oregon employer will have a second annual increase in workers compensation rates in 2013, after two decades of declines.

Workers compensation insurance costs set by the state will average $1.52 per $100 of payroll, according to the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services.

Those figures don't include rates charged by private insurers to cover their expenses and profits. Including those costs, the average employer will pay $1.86 per $100 of payroll next year, up 2.7 percent from $1.81 per $100 this year.
