Restaurateurs optimistic about streetcar loop

Some restaurateurs in Portland's Central Eastside Industrial District think the arrival of the new streetcar loop this month will benefit the neighborhood.

The western area of the Central Eastside district is dominated by warehouses, small businesses and office space. There’s not much retail to draw window-shoppers and nary a hint of residential development.

But because parking in the area is famously awful, the streetcar could be an attractive option for diners who would like to get away from the city’s culinary hotspots and don’t want to drive.
