Wilsonville-based Mentor Graphics' profits topped its forecast quarterly sales target.

The largest pure tech company based in Oregon, Mentor employs about 1,000 at its headquarters.

After years of uneven performance, it has been enjoying sustained growth in sales and profits -- pushing its stock to its highest close in more than five years.
