Nearly 400 wine bloggers are gathering in Portland this week for a conference.
The 370 registered participants for the 5th annual Wine Bloggers Conference wield substantial financial clout in their own right. Collectively, they are booking hundreds of motel rooms, filling restaurants and spending lavishly on shopping and sightseeing.
But their real clout is the collective message they will send to the world after the conference, which is precisely why the state's $2.7 billion wine industry is paying such close attention to them
