Oregon Health and Science University Hospital officials say the personal information of 700 pediatric patients was stolen.

OHSU reported Tuesday that information about more than 14,000 patients and about 200 hospital employees was stored on a USB thumb drive that was taken during a burglary of an OHSU employee’s home July 4 or 5.

Hospital officials said the data was very limited and not the kind of information typically used for identity theft. Nearly all the patient data was password-protected, and all of the data can only be opened by software not commonly found on personal computers.
