Oregon climbed nine places to number 18 on CNBC's annual list of top states for doing business.
The biggest improvement for Oregon — 10 points — came in the economy category, which looks at each state’s economic health and growth. “Oregon benefited from stronger year-over-year growth,” CNBC correspondent Scott Cohn said.
On the downside, Oregon dropped 14 points compared to last year in the cost of doing business category. “In cost of doing business, we found Oregon was hurt by rising wages and a growing tax burden as well as higher office rental costs,” Cohn said. Oregon also dropped three points in the education category.
