Truck distributor announces Portland layoffs

Truck-equipment distributor America's Body Co. plans to shutter its Portland facility, eliminating 46 jobs.

America's Body Co. LLC informed state officials Tuesday that it would cease operations at its facility on Northeast Airport Way. The layoffs will begin Sept. 9.

Nearly half, or 22, of the 46 affected employees are van-body assemblers, according to the news release from the Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development. Another eight are welders.
