Oregon gets $14M in PILT funds

Oregon will receive $14 million to compensate counties and governments for their non-taxable federal land.

The grants are part of the 2012 Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program announced by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

More than 31 million acres in Oregon are federal.

Local jurisdictions provide significant support for national parks, wildlife refuges and recreation areas throughout the year.
