Daimler Trucks CEO wary of economy

Daimler Trucks CEO Martin Daum said if the company hadn't invested in its Swan Island factory before the recession, the company wouldn't have stayed.

Its remote location -- apart from most of Daimler’s East Coast factories and customers -- drove logistics costs as much as $4,000 higher for every truck the plant produced, said Daum.

“If you would build a (truck) plant today in North America, you would never ever consider Oregon or Washington,” he said.
