Mark Tipperreiter left Intel to start Blanketbooster, a company that makes a collapsible rod to improve sleep.

The heat and pressure from the bedding on Tipperreiter’s toes and body caused discomfort and took him out of his natural position. So he got inventive and created a tent out of aluminum that would lift the blankets. It worked.

Tipperreiter’s invention, called the Blanketbooster, is a rather eccentric, if unsexy, endeavor in a local startup world where the most talked-about companies are deep into mobile and other high-tech efforts. He’s the only employee, financed all $30,000 of the startup costs and has very specific plans for the future.
