Rhode Island-based microbrewery Grey Sail Brewing has filed a federal lawsuit against Hood River-based Full Sail Brewing.
Jennifer Brinton, an owner of Grey Sail Brewing Co. in Westerly, tells the Westerly Sun the company acted preemptively after receiving a phone call from Full Sail Brewing Co. telling them they must stop using the Grey Sail name and logo.
Brinton says her company is asking a U.S. District Court judge in Providence to rule the two companies can co-exist. Grey Sail started production in November and is sold only along the Rhode Island and Connecticut shoreline.
