Intel's corporate foundation gave $2.2 million to 870 Oregon schools and nonprofits.

It is part of a program that matches a $10 donation for each hour employees volunteer.

Intel said its volunteerism program dates to 1995. Globally, the company gave $8.2 million through the program for hours employees volunteered in 2011.

Recipients for the past year include 4-H, Oregon Food Bank, the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation, Hands on Portland, the Hillsboro Girls Softball Association, the Cat Adoption Team, Warren Elementary School, and the Century High School Band in Hillsboro.
