Bend-based Goody's is opening a store at Eugene's Fifth Street Public Market.
The entire 870-square-foot store, which was renovated at an undisclosed cost by the market, is designed to evoke the feeling of an old-time candy store, which leads to perhaps the most important element of Goody’s formula: “We want to make coming here an experience,” [co-owner Jvon] Danforth said.
From senior citizens rediscovering a childhood sweet to young children agonizing over how to spend their dollar, no purchase is too small, no deliberation too lengthy, Danforth said. The staff is chosen and trained with that in mind, she said — if you don’t like children or are impatient, this isn’t the right place for you. The store will employ 10 people initially.
