BPA orders first wind shutdown of the season

The Bonneville Power Administration ordered the temporary shutdown of wind farms twice in recent days due to a surplus of power from hydroelectric dams.

The action rekindles a dispute from last year, when the BPA curtailed wind turbines because runoff from snowpack left the region with more power than the grid could handle.
Wind-power companies will be reimbursed for lost revenue. But Jan Johnson, spokeswoman for Iberdrola Renewables, a wind-power developer, said the shutdowns are unacceptable. “Bonneville is unfairly using its control of the federal transmission system to interrupt our generators,” she said.

What a waste,,,,,of energy ? Those who accepted the challenge($$$$) built, voted, implemented, yet no one had future capture of or followup of excess?? Shame on us planning it all for only one sided results!
