Oregon 's first recycling facility to transform plastic beverage bottles made using polyethylene terephthalate (PET) opens this week.

The plant is based near St. Helens and has been anticipated since late 2009 when a coalition...first announced plans for the facility. 
The state-of-the-art facility will convert plastic bottles collected by Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative and market the results to Northwest companies, aiming to reduce the carbon impact of and and add a new local option for the regional plastics supply chain.
