Oregon unemployment dropped to 8.6% in March, essentially unchanged from February's 8.7%.

Actually March's best news concerned February. The monthly state employment report issued Tuesday said Oregon didn't lose 6,400 jobs in February as initially reported. Instead the state lost only 2,800 jobs that month.
The current unemployment rate of 8.6 percent is low by recent standards, but its equal to peak unemployment during a prior recession, being that Oregon's rate crested at that level in June 2003.
