Oregon jobless claims jump by highest amount in U.S.

Unemployment applications increased by 2,079 in Oregon last week, the largest increase in the U.S.

Oregon was one of three states last week to report an uptick of more than 1,000 jobless claims. The Labor Department said Oregon's increase was due to the new quarter, which started in April.
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke has cautioned that the economy is growing too slowly to maintain recent declines in the unemployment rate.
