Crop sales soar in Oregon

Oregon agricultural sales hit a record $5.2 billion last year, according to a report from Oregon State University.

Sales were 19.1 per cent higher than 2010, mainly thanks to higher commodity prices, the OSU Extension Service said in a report released Monday. The previous record of $4.9 billion was set in 2008.
“After two difficult years, Oregon agricultural sales have recovered from the impacts of the recession,” said Bill Boggess, executive associate dean of OSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences.
