The kickoff of the Portland Timbers' season is a boost for local businesses.

Ben Forsythe is in charge of the food served at Jeld-Wen field. His challenge is something new and something local or northwest every season. This year is the Timber Pie.
"It's locally sourced root vegetables and Tillamook Cheese wrapped in a flaky buttery crust," said Forsythe, General Manager of Centerplate.
It means a new business opportunity for Pacific Pie Company in Southeast Portland.  In addition Zenner's meats in Portland provides the bacon that's dipped in chocolate as a treat sold at the games; and also the hot-dogs that are wrapped in a new soft pretzel bun from Franz Bakery located in Northeast Portland.
