The Joinery turns waste into briquettes

Portland B Corp The Joinery bought a $30,000 machine that turns sawdust into wood briquettes for burning.

The machine reduces the furniture maker's waste by 80%.

Since installing the machine last August, The Joinery has started making 1,225 pounds of briquettes each week and giving them away to anyone who wants them.
"I use them in my outdoor fireplace," said Mark Dunning, who oversees machines at The Joinery. "They burn really hot."
