Oregon Legislature opens its first regular even-year legislative session today. Oregon's 90 citizen legislators will have 35 days to deal with a projected $300 million budget shortfall, as well as the specific interests of Gov. John Kitzhaber and rank-and-file lawmakers. Members of various Occupy movements also plan to converge on the Capitol, protesting money in politics and urging state funding for public services. Occupy the Legislature should be an all day event.
