Service Employees International Union Local 503 updated last year's "Moving Oregon Forward" report with ideas to cut the state budget.
The first report ended up being fairly influential. Calls for increasing taxes on well-to-do Oregonians fell on deaf ears, but the legislature ended up adopting several recommendations that could trim middle management and save the state some cash. In the 2012 update, SEIU takes aim at a number of targets, but spends the most time calling for profound reform of the state's contracting system. Read more at StatesmanJournal.com. |
