SolarWorld is installing solar panels on the rooftop of its Hillsboro plant as part of a solar demonstration park.

This month, SolarWorld started the installation of nearly 1 megawatt of solar panels on top of its 210,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, which the company built in 2009.
Last fall, SolarWorld built a 30-kilowatt solar-covered carport — an installation that provides coverage for 14 cars and one electric vehicle charger — as well as a solar demonstration park featuring four model rooftops exhibiting a variety of installation technologies.
The new projects were set up to give customers a way to see SolarWorld panels at work in a variety of settings. The demonstration park will also serve as a classroom SolarWorld can use to train customers in mounting and wiring technologies.
