The high-profile bank will invest $50,000 in Greater Portland Inc., which aims to bolster the region's economy.

The contribution to GPI's $1 million-plus budget is noteworthy for its public unveiling: Greater Portland Inc. is backed by private contributions but its supporters haven't generally promoted theiir donations.

JPMorgan Chase's support appears in the form of a "general operating support grant."
