NuScale Power expects to bring on 105 more workers to its 194-person staff by this time next year.
The company made the announcement in conjunction with a Friday visit from Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, who hit NuScale’s Corvallis plant. The company received a $217 million U.S. Department of Energy grant(the company must raise funds to match it) last fall to develop small modular reactor technology.
"I was here about three years ago and it’s been fascinating to see the sort of evolution of this," Kitzhaber said. "It’s had a huge economic impact on the community and … this technology has matured at exactly the right time to potentially be a very significant factor in a low-carbon strategy."
