The tech company is now allowed to use fiber "huts" on city property.
That opens the door for Google Fiber. In February, Google announced it was exploring the idea of bringing ultra-fast fiber internet to Portland, Lake Oswego and four other metro-area cities. Lake Oswego submitted information on permitting rules, land-use regulation and more to Google on May 1. The company is still in the process of deciding whether to go ahead with the plan, but said it will decide by the end of 2014.
If chosen, Google may install up to two concrete "huts" on city property to house electronic equipment.
