Bend craft brewery to open Portland outlet

Bend's 10 Barrel Brewing Co. announced it will move into the Pearl District.

Garrett Wales, partner in the popular brewing, said it would comment on areport by Brewpublic— and confirmed by retail brokers — that it will soon take over the Pearl District spot now occupied byMellow Mushroom, a national pizza chain after issuing a press release this afternoon.

10 Barrel Brewing operates pubs and breweries in Bend and Boise and has investigated potential locations Portland’s Northwest and Central Eastside neighborhoods.

On April 1 I attended a forum at the University of Portland on the sharing economy. The event featured panelists from Lyft and Airbnb, as well as Portland Mayor Charlie Hales. Asked about the impact of tech-driven sharing economy services. Hales said the new business models are reshaping the landscape. “But,” he added, “I don’t pretend to understand how a lot of this [technology] works.”
