Sponsors of the $2.8 billion Columbia River Crossing project say Oregon will generate enough toll revenue to finance the freeway project.
Oregon Department of Transportation officials say time is of the essence. The projected toll revenue is "sufficient to repay the debt service assuming construction starts in 2015," ODOT spokesman Patrick Cooney said. "If you delay construction, as we've already done for a year, things get more expensive."
