Laughing Planet plans major expansion

Portland's Laughing Planet Cafe plans an expansion campaign that will add six locations in the next year.

The 11-unit chain of fast-healthy restaurants debuts a limited edition satellite cafe in downtown Portland in mid-December and opens all-new locations in Lake Oswego, Bend, Reno, Salt Lake City and possibly Boise over the course of 2014.

The growth spree comes as Laughing Planet observes the first anniversary of an employee buyout. Franz Spielvogel worked with founder Richard Satnick for nine years before buying the company in a deal that closed Dec. 28.
