Portland awarded 2016 track championships

Portland has been chosen to host the 2016 World Indoor Track Championships.

Portland's organizing committee plans to create a temporary track at the Oregon Convention Center for the three-day meet in March of 2016.

The United States last held a senior track and field world championship in 1987, when Indianapolis staged the indoor event. Birmingham hosted the world indoors in 2003.
