Tektronix reorganizes, cutting some jobs

Washington County-based Tektronix began a reorganization this week, reassigning employees and cutting jobs.

“None of the changes are because of cost cutting or trying to meet our financial goals,” said Tektronix president Amir Aghdaei. He said Tek is realigning its business to focus on promising opportunities in wireless technology, energy savings through power analysis, and contracting with other companies that want to outsource their equipment calibration.

Some employees will move to different groups within the company, Aghdaei said, and Tek will eliminate about 1 percent of its global work force. Tektronix would not say how many people will lose their jobs, or how many it employs, but based on past employment levels the layoffs likely amount to a few dozen workers worldwide.
