UO students launch ketchup company

Four former University of Oregon MBA students are launching Red Duck Foods, a ketchup startup.

In January, they filed for incorporation. A few months later began a Kickstarter campaign — To date, they have raised $25,525 from 604 investors on the crowdfunding site — and from winning business plan competitions across the country.

“That was actually the way that we were funding the company for a while. We would go to a business plan competition and win $1,000 to $1,500 to buy tomato paste or the jars or labels,” Oliver said.
