Oregon added 4,500 jobs in August, and the state unemployment rate hit 8.1%, up slightly from 8% in July.
In August, 150,259 Oregonians were unemployed, about 20,067 fewer than a year ago.
During the past 12 months, the state’s private sector added 37,000 jobs. Meanwhile, government has cut 6,300 jobs.
