The electronics factory being chased by New York and Oregon state officials known as "Project Azalea" is on hold.
“They’ve kind of put everything on hold because of market conditions right now,” said Tim McCabe, director of Business Oregon, the state’s economic development arm. “It’s still there,” he said, “but it’s slowed down considerably.”
It could be an enormous boost for either state, and public officials in Oregon want it so badly that they proposed a special bill during the last legislative session to clear out land-use obstacles that could have blocked it from occupying the 330-acre site north of Hillsboro under consideration.
