Oregon is the least expensive state to own a car

Oregon is the least expensive state to own a car, based on the cost of repairs, insurance premium, gas, taxes and fees.

The average annual cost of operating a car in Oregon -- which benefits from having no sales tax, some of the nation's lowest licensing fees, smart planning, and lower than average insurance rates -- is just $2,204.

That's 31 percent less than the national average of $3,201, according to the report.
