Portland economy adds jobs for 8th month

The Portland area gained a seasonally adjusted 1,200 jobs in July.

A report out Monday said the seven-county region has gained jobs for eight straight months. Joblessness held steady at 7.3 percent, hovering below both the national and state average.

Unemployment nationwide was 7.4 percent last month. It was higher in Oregon, at 8.0 percent.
