Swift Collective acquires Saeger Media Group

Portland-based digital-focused public relations agency Swift Collective acquired Saeger Media Group, to form a digital communications agency named Swift.

The deal creates an 80-person firm serving Fortune 500 clients including Nike, Starbucks and Microsoft. Terms of the transaction were not revealed.

Swift Collective co-founder Liz Valentine, who worked about 10 years for Nike and Nike-affiliated properties, will be chief executive of Swift. Alicia McVey, another Swift Collective co-founder, will remain as chief creative officer. Paul Wille, already of Swift Collective, will remain as chief technology officer. Katy Saeger, founder and principal of Saeger joins as Swift partner and chief communications officer.

Five years in the making, the Portland Mercado — the city’s first Latino public market — will celebrate its grand opening April 11. A $3.5 million public-private partnership spearheaded by Hacienda CDC, the market will house 15 to 20 businesses in the food, retail and service sectors. It has some big-name funders, including the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and JPMorgan Chase. The project goals are equally ambitious: to improve cross-cultural understanding, alleviate poverty and spur community economic development.
