Wildfires in Oregon are continuing to grow, with unstable weather conditions that encourage fires still in the future.

In southern Oregon the largest fire, by far, is the Douglas complex north of Glendale, which has charred nearly 36,000 acres. Veale said firefighters have made good progress against the smaller blazes in the complex, with overall containment at 16 percent. But the Rabbit Mountain and Dad’s Creek fires, which account for almost all of the overall charred acreage, continue to pose the biggest threat. The Dad’s Creek fire, at nearly 20,000 acres, is 10 percent contained while the Rabbit Mountain blaze, at nearly 16,000 acres, is 12 percent contained.
