Oregon to pay groups to get the word out on Cover Oregon

Oregon has $750,000 in grants to pay business associations to spread the word about health coverage changes.

Cover Oregon will go live in October with a website allowing small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to compare health insurance plans, enroll, and qualify for tax credits. Individuals who are not on Medicare and don't get coverage from their employer can as well, to fulfill new federal requirements. With some exceptions, people need to have health insurance in 2014 or pay a fine.

If this plan is so good, why do they have to spend more money (out money) to try to get people to enroll! The celebrates, the other organizations that have been pressured, er, I mean asked, to push this???

Typical BIG government. Give taxpayer money (grant) to a state to advertise that BIG goverment is going to require you to purchase a product (health insurance) or face a penalty. The penalty will be inforced by the same BIG governemnt (IRS) that is requiring you to have this product (health insurance). Furthermore, it is a product that an overwhelmingly large percentage of the population feel they should not be "forced" to purchase. It's time to REDUCE the size of government, let the people make thier own decisions and run it like a business.
