Cottage Grove gets app

Cottage Grove residents have a new app available to them to report graffiti or potholes.

The city and Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to launch a smartphone application that, among other features, offers an easy way to snap a photo or make a service request. There is no need for the person reporting the problem to type in any personal information if they don’t want to. And the GPS location of the place the photo was taken is noted automatically so the person sending it does not need to know the address.

There is no charge to use the new app. The total subscription cost to use the service is $1,200 annually, and the chamber and city split the bill evenly, [chamber Executive Director Travis] Palmer said.
