Oregon Senate says state should regulate farm crops

The Oregon Senate passed a bill that gives the state the power to regulate what seeds can and can't be sown, instead of counties.

The bill, which still needs to go through the House, would undercut an effort in Jackson County to ban genetically engineered plants.

Senate Bill 633, which passed 17-12, was supported by much of the state's farming sector, which doesn't want to face a slew of new rules about what can be grown where.
