Target unveils plans for downtown store

At a news conference Thursday, Target officially released plans for new downtown store, one of the first urban Targets in  U.S.

At 89,000 square feet, the City Target in the Galleria will have a smaller footprint than Target's traditional suburban consumer vortexes, which run in excess of 100,000 square feet on average.

But the downtown store will carry most of the same product array that Target "guests" expect – such as Graves-created housewares and sportswear from the hot-shot designer Wu, plus groceries and staples.
