REI plans to open a store in Medford early next year, causing mixed emotions from local shoppers.
Southern Oregon offers a variety of outdoor activities and while some residents said this new addition will mean more opportunities, others are concerned for local "mom and pop" shops.
The closest REI is nearly three hours away in Eugene, leaving locals to turn to their website for products.
