A group of business leaders are asking the Medford City Council for $300,000 over two years to establish a business development program.

Sustainable Valley Economic Development Initiative is hoping to establish an incubator type system that would help fledgling technology companies become established in the Rogue Valley, turning the focus from a struggling timber industry to a flourishing technology industry. Sustainable Valley's business accelerator program would offer support, mentorship, financial incentives and valuable partnerships to the new start ups.

"There is a big pool of prospective clients for the accelerator already. We have already talked to numerous entrepreneurs that are here in the valley, and they are very excited about having the opportunity to become the first clients of this new business accelerator," said Mark VonHollie, Vice President of S&B James Construction.
