Project Runway winner Seth Aaron Henderson will present a collection inspired by SolarWorld at Portland Fashion Week.

SolarWorld is sponsoring Portland Fashion Week in an effort to convince the masses that solar has hit the mainstream.

“Our company tries to be open to things that are a little novel,” said Ben Santarris, SolarWorld spokesman. “At first we thought it would be cool to use our new all-black solar modules as the runway. Then the possibility of working with (designer Seth Aaron Henderson) came up. It’s an unconventional way to showcase our product.”

“I didn’t want to put a plastic solar panel on someone’s back,” Henderson said. “My goal is to reach a mass audience and figure out a way for fashion people and technology people to meet in the middle. It’s not ready to wear. It’s just fun.”
