Local Roseburg business owners are embracing the new Costco that opened Thursday, rather than viewing Costco as a competitor.

They say their superior customer service and specialized knowledge will help them succeed despite the big-box store's opening.

Jim and Corinn Sebaske, owners of Divine Home Furnishings on Diamond Lake Boulevard, said they aren't concerned that Costco's lower prices will put them out of business, but the new store will compete for a limited number of customers. They will compete on value and service, Jim Sebaske said.

“There's no doubt Costco has a successful business model,” he said. “ I can't buy in the volume that they do, but I can still offer a competitive price and have it delivered to your home.”

Corinn Sebaske said she hopes that Costco's opening will create a boom in the local economy.
