Jon Bullinger lived two lives, one as an Intel marketing manager and another as founder of Unique Liquid, makers of Yeyo high-end tequila.

Bullinger quit his job at Intel this month to make tequila his full-time commitment; already, his brand has distributed most of its initial 132-case shipment.

High-end tequila has been one of the fastest-growing categories in spirits in the past few years, said Todd Parry, a vice president for sales at the Southern-Odom Spirits West brokerage. The company represents Unique Liquid, as well as its biggest competitors.

"Patron created the category and made people that realize that people would buy a high-end tequila," Parry said. "Like any big player in any category, they kind of pull the category along. People are willing to pay top dollar for a good tequila right now."
